Description: CSSS is honored to have Richard Easton, one of the authors of GPS Declassified: From Smart Bombs to Smartphones as a speaker to discuss his book. GPS Declassified looks at the development of GPS starting from its beginnings as a Cold War military technology through to its use today as a consumer product. Quoting from the book’s description “the authors examine how military rivalries influenced the creation of GPS and shaped public perceptions about its origin. Since the United States’ first program to launch a satellite in the late 1950s, the nation has pursued dual paths into space—one military and secret, the other scientific and public. Among the many commercial spinoffs this approach has produced, GPS arguably boasts the greatest impact on our daily lives.” The book’s rating on Amazon is 4.7 out of 5 stars.

This program is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
